21DOP: Day 1

Day 1:  What is a foundation?

There are many dictionary definitions of the word “foundation.”  Many of us have donated to a charitable foundation that we are passionate about and want to support.  The make-up aisle is full of foundation products women can use on their face.  Homeowners know the importance of a home built on a solid foundation.  One dictionary defines ”foundation”  this way: “A foundation is the structure below the surface of the ground which supports a building.”

As we kick off our 21 Days of Prayer, let’s ponder another foundation. Can we reevaluate the basis of our faith and assess the solidity of what lies beneath our beliefs, words, and actions?  1 Corinthians 3:11 tells us, “For no one can lay any foundation, other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

For you and me, does it all truly start with Jesus?
Over the next 20 days, am I open to allowing my life to start with God?

Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize YOU as the basis of my faith. May my feet stand on Your Lordship, Your sacrifice, and Your eternal Truth. Open my eyes to see anything that waters down the solidity of my faith. May this day, this week, this upcoming year, start with my feet upon You, as my solid Rock and Savior. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
