21DOP: Day 3

Day 3:  What is my current foundation?

It’s easy to say, “I put God first in my life.” But we often find ourselves immersed in bank statements, busy schedules, and social media. The fact is, we must consistently evaluate the basis of our faith and how we are demonstrating this faith to those around us. As our spiritual “block tower” raises itself higher and higher, our “builder’s eyes” must also be fixed on the foundation, as well as the topmost part. If there is a wobbly part in the foundation, a steady adjustment is in order!

Today, let’s be honest with ourselves. How are we doing with our spiritual foundation?  Matthew 7:24 reminds us, “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice, is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock!”

If we feel a little shaky and unsteady in our present circumstances, we need to get back to God’s Word, internalize it, and put it into practice! We can stand on the firmness of God’s Word when we keep it in our hearts and model it to the world.

Is God’s Word secure in your spiritual foundation today?
What could I do to strengthen my spiritual foundation?

Prayer: “Dear Lord, help me to see any breach in my spiritual foundation. Show me where I have diluted this foundation with worldly concerns. Help me solidify these breaches, so that I can withstand whatever comes my way. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
