21DOP: Day 19
Day 19: How does our present faith foundation impact our future foundation?
There are structures that exist all over the world, that have stood the test of time, and have great historical impact. You can go to Europe and see churches, castles, and museums. Even in our country, we can visit homes of former presidents, the Alamo, even the remains of Jamestown! The persons who built the foundations of those structures are long gone. Yet, we, of the future, can visit and enjoy and appreciate their significance and value!
When we stand on a firm foundation of faith, we have already ensured an eternal foundation that we can’t even imagine. Just as the builders of the historical structures could not fathom their future impact, we cannot fathom what joy we will have, when we face eternity with Jesus.
If your faith foundation is in Jesus, your name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Revelation 22:5). The entire chapter of Revelation 21 describes the new Jerusalem, where we will live and dwell with Jesus. V. 4: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.“ v. 23: “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light and the Lamb is its lamp.” Revelation 22:3 “No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.”
What part of Heaven excites you the most? Because of your faith foundation in Jesus, you have NO idea how wonderful it will be!
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for encouraging us in our faith walk, by sharing with us glimpses of Heaven in Your word. In the down times, help me to fix my eyes on the future home I have with you, and what joy it will be to live in Your presence! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
