Day 18 - Can God’s power within us enhance our spiritual sight?
Absolutely! In Acts 1:8, Jesus told his disciples that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on them, and “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The disciples were so weakened and blinded after Jesus’ death, yet the power of God was sent so they would see the mission to be His witnesses. Paul described himself as having the weakness of a “thorn in his flesh.” But, God told him in 2 Cor. 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” After hearing this, Paul wanted to BOAST about his weakness, so that God’s power would rest on him THROUGH that weakness! Just think---our weaknesses can ENHANCE God’s power in us, and we often SEE His greater plan through them!
Do you ever feel weak? Do you have hardships? When we see Jesus as our Savior and acknowledge that where our weaknesses lie, are exactly where He wants to move, He can do great things. If we had all that we wanted or needed, we wouldn’t need Him! We have access to all that the Holy Spirit is, if we only tap into that. His unlimited power can overcome ANY blindness we may have!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me see the hard seasons of my life as sources of strength. Help me to leverage these seasons and circumstances to access your power to persevere and to also help others. And, help me to remember that your Holy Spirit is inside of me, providing all that I need! Amen.
