21 Days of Prayer & Fasting
Day 17 - How can seeing guide me to into leading others?
The disciples of Jesus are so much like us! Their spiritual sight took time to grow, as Jesus taught them and challenged them. Jesus knew that His earthly teaching journey with them would soon end, yet He had so much more to reveal to them! Jesus had a mission for them to carry on His work, and He would NOT leave them without a teaching companion. Jesus spoke to his disciples in John 16:7, “But I tell you the truth. It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.” Jesus would not leave them without the means to continue seeing God’s will and purpose more and more clearly! And when the Holy Spirit came upon them after Jesus rose from the dead, they were enabled to be bold and LEAD the early church with power and confidence! Jesus WANTED them to see, so they could share His message, and lead others to faith. John 17:20 says, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message.”
When we surrender to Jesus, we become Christ followers, receiving spiritual sight to lead others to also know Him. We can follow and lead at the same time! The Holy Spirit becomes our “eyes.” What an amazing gift that disciples didn’t even have at first. What power and insight we hold by having the Holy Spirit with us at all times!
Prayer: Dear Lord, how can I use my sight/eyes to influence others? Please open my eyes to see where the Spirit is leading, that I may bring the message and hope of the Gospel to transform and impact the lives of those around me. Amen.
