21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Day 8

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Day 8 - Does our spiritual sight come right away when we pray and trust in Jesus?

Mark 8:22-25 references the wonderful story of the blind man at Bethsaida. What makes this story unique is that a very capable Jesus, chose to bring this man’s sight back through a process, instead of an instant miracle.  He took the man’s hand and led him to another place.  He then spit on the man’s eyes, and laid his hands on them, asking if he saw anything yet.  The man saw what looked like tree trunks walking around, instead of people.  One more time, Jesus touched the man’s eyes and this time, the man had perfect vision.

Jesus modeled what often happens with our spiritual sight.  Not only that, but Jesus models what happens when we pray, asking for instant gratification!  Sometimes people are healed instantly when they pray. Others go through a treatment process. People who grieve, find their healing and comfort are on different timelines. For some of us, we start following Jesus as soon as we hear about the Good News. For others of us, it’s a process.  Although Jesus is able to speak ONE word or give ONE touch for instant results, He often delivers His answers through a process of steps.  If we cannot automatically see the results of our prayers, we can find comfort in knowing that Jesus is actively working out the process of answering our prayers for our good and His glory.

Prayer: Jesus, please help me be patient, as I await the answer to my prayers.  I know you can instantly heal and solve problems, and YOU HAVE.  I praise You that the silence of Your answers does not mean You did not hear, but that You are actively carrying out Your purposes and plan for my best and my good. Help me to trust You in the “waiting.”
