21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Day 5

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Day 5 - Why can’t I see?

In Psalm 32, David, recognized the importance of repentance and confession.  His sin kept him from moving forward at a critical time in his life, where he could not see past the battle waged in his heart over this transgression.  He expresses in verse 3, “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away, through my groaning all day long.  For day and night, your hand was heavy upon me, my strength was sapped, as in the heat of summer.”  Notice the change in David when he took the next step, “Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the guilt of my sin.’  Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to you, while you may be found.”  David’s sin kept him in a state of despair and darkness, yet his confession brought him back into God’s light and favor, to the point that he commends EVERYONE to seek and pray to God, for seekers will be rewarded with God’s attentiveness.

We often cannot see a way out of a current situation that we’re facing.  We can come to God, asking him to reveal anything in us that blocks our vision of the door He wants to open for us.  If it is sin, He is there to forgive us and give us clarity.

Prayer: Lord, I cannot see what lies ahead in this issue in my life. I cannot sense Your will or Your wisdom.  I’m stuck in a place of despair, not knowing a way out.  Please remove anything that would keep me from seeing clearly.  I ask you to reveal to me why I cannot perceive your wisdom, and humbly confess anything that would blur my vision of you. Amen.
