21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Day 4

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Day 4 - Why should I see?

Jesus and the Pharisees had quite a conversation when the man born blind was healed.  In John 9:39, Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”  Then, in verse 41 Jesus adds, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin, but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”

Jesus was trying to tell them that genuine spiritual sight is imperative in recognizing and confessing sin, in order to receive God’s grace and salvation.  By fully seeing the reality of our sin, we can then walk in lockstep with the Light of the World. We have new perspectives on the world, through the eyes of our Savior.  When we begin to “see” the world through the eyes of Jesus, we shift.  We see others as God sees them, and we begin to focus more on others and their needs.  The best reason to have spiritual sight is to live more productively and victoriously, as Jesus reveals more and more of Himself to us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, to have Your eyesight is to perceive the world with a loving heart.  We can love like you loved, serve like you serve, and share your viewpoint on people and events around us.  Help me to give you praise for every time a layer of blindness is removed from my eyes, so that I may share your passion and mission to impact those around me for Your kingdom. Help me to see what’s around me through your eyes Father.  Amen.
