21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Day 3

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Day 3 - What does it mean to see?

The ability to see means using your eyes to notice something.  A person who is physically blind has been denied this sense and must resort to other senses to make discoveries in the world around him/her.

In John 9, Jesus heals a man born blind.  The man had never been able to use his eyes to view the world around him. John 9:6 talks about what Jesus did to heal the blind man. “Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes.  ‘Go,’ he told him, 'wash in the Pool of Siloam.’ ”  The man followed Jesus’ instructions and came home miraculously healed, being able to fully see!

Jesus called Himself “The Light of the World” prior to this miracle.  In healing the man blind from birth, he was trying to show the Pharisees that we are all spiritually blind at birth, because our sin separates us from seeing the Light of the World.  Our blindness is washed away, when we come to Jesus to have Him touch us, wash away our sins, and bring us into the Light of His Truth.

Prayer: Lord, can I see you clearly as I should?  Have I come to You, the Light of the World, believing that you can wash my sins away, revealing clear spiritual sight?  And if so, is there any blindness in me that must be washed away, so that I can be the best representation of You on the earth?  Help me to wash away anything that would prevent Your Truth from entering my heart. Amen.
