21 Days of Prayer & Fasting: Day 1

21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Day 1 - Does prayer help us see?

God’s mentions in Isaiah 6:9, that His people “be ever seeing, but never perceiving.”  Time and time again, His people have gone their own way, even though their faithful God desired them to come to Him -- “for His ears are attentive to their prayer.” (1 Peter 3:12)

Hebrews 11:6 reminds us, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Without prayer, we focus on what is presently in front of our human eyes. In the here and now, we cannot perceive God’s plan or purpose, only the uncertainties of our current experience.  By seeking God through prayer, He can open our eyes to the deeper intentions of His will.  When we believe in our Great Mediator, we can choose to pray, with earnest and pursuing hearts, knowing that God can reward us with insights that enable us to persevere, as He reveals His plan and purposes in this situation.

The first step to the wisdom and clarity we seek, is to talk to our heavenly parent, so that He can give us the vision to move forward.

Prayer: Lord, I praise you that I have one Mediator between me and God—You, Lord!  Who am I that you would want to hear from me and hear my pleas and supplications?  Thank you that I have a place where I can move from blurred vision to clearer sight, as you guide and direct me with your answers.  Lord, what am I now experiencing, that I cannot see beyond?  Help me to earnestly come to You in prayer, that I may be enlightened by Your Truth in this situation. Amen.
