21DOP: Day 2
Day 2: Why is a foundation important?
As a child, did you build a tower with blocks? It is a “given†that you begin at the bottom and work your way up! Any “block tower builder†knows the importance of choosing and configuring the first blocks for the base. The types of decisions made to start the building process will be directly related to whether or not your structure will come crashing down! Thus, the foundation layer can “make or break†a successful tower!
Spiritual growth means we must be sure our foundation is solid. If we don’t feel secure in what we believe and why we believe it, we will be tossed and upended when our faith is challenged. The New Testament book of Ephesians tells us that a solid foundation anchors us in our faith, enabling us to become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:14 says, “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.â€
Do we take the foundation of our faith seriously and realize its critical role in our spiritual maturity?
How can we begin to see our faith as central to our life’s foundation?
Prayer: “Dear Jesus, not only do I desire to have YOU as my faith foundation, but I need help in realizing how important this foundation is in living out my faith. Help me prioritize Your truths, so that I know my faith foundation is rock solid and critical in my spiritual growth. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.â€
